When the environment is hot, stomata opens and water vapor comes out of stomata this helps in uptake of more and more water from the roots of the plants through the stems, this process cools down the plant.
When the temperature is cold outside, the stomata closes to stop the further uptake of water from the roots, this helps in maintaining the inner temperature of plant.
