You can find the roots of any quadratic using the following equation.

[tex] \frac{-b +/- \sqrt{b^{2}- 4ac}}{2a} [/tex]

Now we can place each of the values in their respective spots.

[tex] \frac{3 +/- \sqrt{-3^{2}- 4(2)(-4)}}{2(2)} [/tex]

[tex] \frac{3 +/- \sqrt{9 + 32}}{4} [/tex]

[tex] \frac{3 +/- \sqrt{41}}{4} [/tex]

Then these are your roots.
