The 1960 presidential debate between Richard Nixon and john F. Kennedy illustrated the power of television’s influence in American politics.

In 1960, Massachusetts Democratic Senator John F. Kennedy and Republican Vice President Richard M. Nixon face each other in a nationally televised presidential campaign debate.

The debate proved how television would dominate political campaigns. The power of television worked really well for candidates who  knew how to play to the audience.
