The atomic mass of an element is the sum of the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Because electron mass is virtualy none it contributes to very little of an element's mass.

Thus the atomic mass is the sum of the number of electrons and protons. 

Therefore the number of neutrons can be found by subtracting the number of protons from the atomic mass
