Well the character's perspective that the reader heard the story from suffered from depression. Her outlook on life affected the way she saw the wallpaper. However, if the yellow paper had been told from the point of view of her husband, everything would probably be really realistic and emotionless (factual). At least it would be more positive and less imaginative if someone besides the woman had told the story. I hope this helps!
