I have a baseball card. Its present value is 80% more than I paid for it. My friend offers me $27 for the card, which is only 2/3 of the card's present value. How much did I pay for the card?

Respuesta :

hmm

80% ,2/3 divide 2 by 3 which is .66 . then move the decimal two to the right to get percent. 66% now,
80%-66% = 14%, move the deciamal on 14% two to the left 14 make it dollars $14. then add 27 + 14 which = $41 thats your anwser. its been a while so sorry if its wrong.
The answer is $8.10 because if $27 is 2/3 of the value then you would multiply by 3/2 so that you could find the value of the card. Then to find how much you paid for it multiply by 0.20 because 1 - 0.2=0.8 giving you 80 percent less than the value of the card (how much you paid) which is $8.10
