The United States and the Soviet Union became the two superpowers following World War II. What did they do to go about defending their position to one another and the world?

They split the world into spheres of influence.
They decided not to get into each other's way.
They stockpiled weapons of mass destruction.
They chose not to recognize one another.

Respuesta :

Good question, I would go with A)They split the world into spheres of influence.

Answer: (B) BASED ON MY CONCLUSION.

Explanation:Economically, the two nations were poles apart, as well. The Soviet Union (communism) restricted trade, fearing nations who experienced freedom would spread their views to Soviet workers who knew nothing about it. Under the American system (capitalism), free trade was encouraged with all countries.

These and other philosophies accentuate the differences between the two nations. Each wanted the rest of the world to follow its example and did what it could to make it happen. This, however, required weapons. The need for defending and enforcing their points of view resulted in both countries stockpiling weapons of mass destruction on an unprecedented scale.

Although these differences were well-known before and during World War II, neither nation confronted the other, as they had a common enemy in Germany. As the war was winding down, however, Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, and American president Franklin Roosevelt arrived at marked differences of opinion with regard to what would become of Europe following the conflict.
