solids tend to have heavy weights and can sometimes float also you cant stick something through them unless its puddy or playdough also they have a definite shape and volume.

A crystal or crystalline solid is a solid material whose constituents (such as atoms, molecules, or ions) are arranged in a highly ordered microscopic structure, forming a crystal lattice that extends in all directions.
and amorphous solids are any noncrystalline solid in which the atoms and molecules are not organized in a definite lattice pattern. Such solids include glass, plastic, and gel. Solids and liquids are both forms of condensed matter; both are composed of atoms in close proximity to each other.

liquids dont have a definite shape but they do have volume though they are usually runny or watery .

a needle can float because it is has less density than water

a gas has no definite shape or volume and are most times invisible to the eye
