How can you express (9 + 36) as a multiple of a sum of whole numbers with no common factor?
A.) 1 × (9 + 36)
B.) 3 × (3 + 12)
C.) 6 × (3 + 6)
D.) 9 × (1 + 4)

Respuesta :

The best answer here is D. 9 x (1 + 4) because all you have to do for this problem is factor. I know the wording makes it look like a confusing problem, but all you have to do is factor.

The work is below:

(9 + 36)  ********** Do not add these numbers together. *************************

Pull out 9 from both terms because 9 is the GCF of both terms. This will help you factor it to the simplest form.

(9 + 36)

9/9 = 1

36/9 = 4

******** After pulling out the 9, the answer should look like:

9 (1 + 4)
