Please help :) In the 15th century, Italy was a collection of competing small kingdoms and city-states. What economic & political advantages contributed to the rise of the Italian city-states? Please explain thank you! :)

City-states have better economic and political control, similar to federalism. It can have faster access and the authority they need to take action unlike other forms of government holding bigger responsibilities where centralization and decentralization are hard to implement. Cities may have the power to immediately decide on events and situations that they need.
