Well he was a racist man. He wanted to get rid of the native Americans in a process he called the removal. So that the whites could steal their land. He took advantage of them, doing acts that I cant mention because this site won't allow me to, I am sure you know what I mean. Their lives weren't worth as much as the white lives.

His view of Indians was blinded by racism. He tried to make it seem as if he was trying to assimilate the Indians and justified the Trail of Tears as he stated they didn't cooperate and were resistant to change. When there were actually quite a few tribes who adopted Anglo Saxon names and learned, developed their own alphabet, and even lived in towns that were similar to whites. Despite having made the changes to assimilate, whites often still raided their towns and removed them from their homes and relocated them to Oklahoma through the Trail of Tears where many would die through disease.
