Plasma is the liquid portion of the blood that transports many important components around the body, and is commonly extracted and used to make medications. The components that are dissolved into the plasma and that plasma is made of include the following: glucose, vitamins, amino acids, lipoproteins, hormones, anti-toxins, anti-bodies, phospholipids, mineral salts, urea, fibrinogen, hydrogen-carbonate ions
