Basically if 2 organisms belong to the same family, then that would mean that all of the taxonomic groups prior to the taxa of family would be common for both organisms as well, this would include : kingdom, phylum, class, order. To understand this think of it as a hierarchy, where organisms are distributed accordingly as per each group and eventually isolated and or separated in the final group.
