Sedimentation is a phenomenon in which the particles settle down in the fluid in which it was entrained. The particles come to rest against a barrier. This phenomenon is due the various forces acting on the particles these forces can be centrifugal force, gravity electromagnetism. Sedimentation may be related to objects of various sizes. The sediments can be as small as the dust particles or can as large as the rock in flowing water. Even small molecules have the sufficient mount of force to produce sediments.

  • In chemistry sedimentation is used to measure the size of the particles.
  • In geology sedimentation is the settlement of particles carried away by wind.
