The pattern of inheritance that you would be observing in this situation is called incomplete dominance.
You originally only planted red and yellow flowers in this example, however, the offspring of these two plants (assuming that one is homozygous dominant and one is homozygous recessive) is orange. This is because this flower has an allele from each of the two flowers (one red and one yellow) and thus both colors are represented in its phenotype.
