The right answer is women worked during the war.
The scenario was easy to understand. With millions of men being sent to Europe an Asia to fight in the war front during WWII, the demand for civilian workers grew rampantly. To supply this demand women and blacks were highly hired. Nearly two hundred thousand women served in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC) and the navy’s equivalent, Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES). Over 6 million women entered the workforce during the war, an increase of more than 50% overall and in manufacturing alone an increase of some 110%.
