So lets times both numbers by 10. So 1 x 10 = 10. And 4 x 10 = 40. So add them up. 10 + 40 = 50. Lets finish this, now just go up. Every time you go up by one, add 4. So that will be 5. Now 5+50=55. We can't fit anything else. So the answer would be 11 men out of 57 women.

1 out of 4 people are men. (So 3 out of 4 are women)

1 times 57 = 57. 57 divided by 4 = 14.25 ( because human can not be put into decimals you round the answer)

~14 of the 57 are men. ( 57-14=43 women)


Do the same to the woman and you will find the answer is 42.75 and rounded is 43 women.
