Three brothers have some money. The oldest has 3/5 of the total, and the youngest has 1/10 of the total. If the oldest brother has $108, how much do each of the other brothers have?

We just need to make the fractions equivalent, if you take 3/5  and put it in tenths you get 6/10. Which means that the oldest brother has 6/10 the youngest has 1/10 and because we can add those two together and subtract from the total we get the middle brothers amount, 3/10 of the money. Multiply the fractions by the 108 total to get the amount of money that each person has.
6/10*108=64.8
3/10*108=32.4
1/10*108=10.8
To make sure the answers are correct add the values together. 64.8+32.4+10.8=108

The eldest brother has $64.80, the second eldest has $32.40 and the youngest has $10.80.
