The National Socialist German Worker's Party, or just Nazi for short, and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) or just Soviet Union for short, made a peace treaty.
On August 23, 1939, The Nazi Party and The Soviet Union made an agreement not to attack each other for the next ten years. Stalin used this just so he didn't have to worry about Germany when he was rebuilding the Soviet Army. Of course as you can imagine Adolf Hitler just used it so Russia couldn't do anything when the invaded Poland, September First 1939.
But he soon after broke the agreement by invading Russia on June 22, 1941. Commissioning Operation Barbarossa.
