More space would be needed than is actually necessary here to adequately ask for a very brief articulation of the case for impartial suffrage and for involving the black population in the political system. It is supported by arguments that are as varied as human nature and as many as societal demands. Frederick Douglass man is capable of creating governments. His right to take part in the creation and operation of the government follows naturally from who he is, just as his right to own property or receive an education does. Declaring that a man shall not participate in the formation and direction of the government in which he lives is no less a crime against his manhood than declaring that he shall not participate.
