A distraction is anything that prevents the message from being created, delivered, and understood by the recipient. Distraction is when we divert our attention from the reality or issue we need to concentrate on right now and instead focus on something more problematic or delightful.
Inability to pay attention, lack of interest in the object of attention, increased interest or interest in anything other than the object of attention, or attention impairment can all lead to distraction, which can be a wholly mechanical phenomenon.
