The Texans' resistance to the stronger force became a historic event, which was a distinction between the first and second battles at the Alamo between Texas and the Mexican army.

The Battle of the Alamo occurred at the start of the Texas Revolution in 1836. Mexican and Texan forces engaged in combat at the Alamo, a fort in San Antonio. During the Battle of the Alamo, a small band of about 180 Texan rebels held out in the fort for two weeks while being besieged by tens of thousands of Mexican soldiers.

The Texans were much more motivated to carry on with their fight for independence even though they lost the Battle of the Alamo. On April 21, the Texans finally prevailed in the War of San Jacinto.
