According to Hardin, in thinking about hunger and poverty as moral issues, it is useful to think of them in terms of the metaphor of the lifeboat.

Hardin (full name Garrett Hardin) was an ecologist from America. Hus career was focused towards the overpopulation of humans. He gained popularity for his article “tragedy of the commons”. Here he wanted to signify that humans make decisions only for their need regardless of the negative impact it may have on others.

Poverty is the state where a person or family has to possession, money as well as very low source of income. A person is unable to meet the basic needs of food, shelter and clothing in poverty. The causes of poverty are not only personal but social, political as well as economic.
