read the passage and on the pedestal these words appear my name is ozymandias, king of kings look on my works ye mighty and despair nothing beside remains round the deca.. how does the poet use irony in the passage?

Respuesta :

It is ironic that the pedestal has strong words but the statue is in decay. Hoped that helped. :)

The irony of the excerpt lies on the words that the pedestal displays. The statue tells the reader to "look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!" This most likely shows that the person who built the works (Ozymandias) believed that people who saw them would be in awe at their magnificence and splendour. However, nothing around the statue remains anymore, due to the passage of time.
