"Functions can either be constant, increasing as x increases, or decreasing as x increases."
4. Identifying the rate of change
Yes, you can:
"Consider the line y = 2x + 1, shown at the right. Notice that this slope will be the same if the points (1,3) and (2, 5) are used for the calculations. For straight lines, therate of change (slope) is constant (always the same). For every one unit that is moved on the x-axis, two units are moved on the y-axis."
5. Determining if it is a linear function or not
"A linear function is in the form y = mx + b or f(x) = mx + b, where m is the slope or rate of change and b is the y-intercept or where the graph of the line crosses the y axis. You will notice that this function is degree 1 meaning that the x variable has an exponent of 1."
