The Dust Bowl accelerated the economic issues of the Great Depression leading a lot of families to migrate in search of work and better living conditions. some of the factors that caused the dust bowl were federal land policies, changes in weather, farm economics, and other cultural factors.

During the drought period, the severe dust carried away the top and fertile soil, and since there was no rainfall then it was useless for the farmers to have land since it did not benefit them.
