People who are immunocompromised are defined as having weaknesses/ defects in their innate or adaptive immune responses.
Immunocompromised individuals are less able to fight off infections and other illnesses. Malnutrition, some genetic illnesses, cancer, diabetes, AIDS, and other diseases or conditions may all contribute to this. Radiation therapy, stem cell and organ transplants, radiation therapy for cancer, and other medications or therapies may also contribute to it. Likewise known as immunosuppressed.
As a result, an immunocompromised host is someone who exhibits a decline in their capacity to develop an immunological defense against infection because their immune system is impaired and incapable of fighting off infections.
