Marco and Elaine want to paint the entire stand silver. A can of paint covers 25 square feet and costs $6. 79. They set aside $15 for paint. Is that enough? Explain.

Respuesta :

Using Area of Cubiod , the surface area of silver stand is 60 ft². The set cost of can to paint the whole silver stand is not enough.

Area is defined as the total space taken up by shape of an object. The space covers by shape on the paper is called its Area.

We have given the following informations,

The silver stand is a shape made up of one small cuboid and other one biger cuboid .

The length of biger cuboid (l₁) = 7 ft

The width or breadth of biger cubiod (b₁ ) = 1 ft

the heigyht of biger cubiod (h₁) = 2 ft

Surface area of biger cubiod (A₁) = 2(l₁b₁ + b₁h₁ + h₁l₁) = 2( 7 + 2 + 14 ) = 46 feet²

The length of smaller cuboid ( l₂) = 1 ft

The breadth of smaller cuboid (b₂) = 1 ft

height of smaller cuboid (h₂) = 3 ft

Surface area of smaller cubiod (A₂)= 2(l₂b₂+ b₂h₂+ h₂l₂) = 2( 1 + 3 +3 ) = 14 ft²

Total surface area of siver stand (A) = A₁+A₂

A = 14 + 46 = 60 ft²

Now , we have, one can of paint covered the surface area of stand = 25 ft²

Number of can required to paint whole silver stand = 60 /25 = 4 paint can

the cost of one paint can = $6.79

cost of 4 paint can = $( 4×6.79) = $ 27.16

but the set cost to paint the whole silver stand by Marco and Elaine is $15 (given) .

To paint the whole silver stand, set cost of paint is not enough .

Hence, the surface area of silver stand is 60 ft² and the set cost of paint is not enough .
