An important factor that helped China to reunite under Taizong was the fact that both Northern and Southern China had a common language, peace was sought for, after haven gone through wars in the past.
Who was Taizong?
Taizong was an emperor in China. Emperor Taizong's first official act as emperor was to release several ladies in waiting from the palace and send them back to their homes so they might get married. His oldest son Li Chengqian became the crown prince, and he made his wife Princess Zhangsun the empress.
As soon as Eastern Tujue's Jiali Khan Ashina Duobi and his nephew, the subordinate Tuli Khan Ashina Shibobi, launched a significant incursion toward Chang'an, the Emperor Taizong was faced with a crisis. The two khans were located on the other side of the Wei River from Chang'an just 19 days after Emperor Taizong assumed the throne. Emperor Taizong was compelled to meet Ashina Duobi across the river and personally discuss peace conditions, escorted by Gao Shilian and Fang Xuanling.
Emperor Taizong introduced a feudal system in 631, whereby those who contributed to his rule received additional positions as prefectural governors in addition to their current positions, which would be passed down to their offspring. However, due to significant resistance from his advisors, particularly Zhangsun Wuji, this plan was quickly abandoned.
Emperor Taizong's officials urged him to perform sacrifices to heaven and earth at Mount Tai on numerous occasions following the conquest of Eastern Tujue. Despite being enticed by the idea, Wei repeatedly persuaded Emperor Taizong to reject it by emphasizing how costly and labor-intensive it would be for the populace to undertake such a project and how it would leave China's frontiers vulnerable to invasion.
