[1] Stasis is the name given to this condition of minimal or no morphological change. According to the notion, significant evolutionary change is typically limited to cladogenesis, which are uncommon and geologically quick instances of branching speciation. In contrast to slow species transformation, cladogenesis is the process through which a species separates into two distinct species.
