f(x) = 2(x- 2)(x + 6)
We can easily multiply out the last two terms and lastly multiply the product with 2 (The first term)
This gives:
[tex]\begin{gathered} \mleft(x-2\mright)\mleft(x+6\mright) \\ =x(x+6)\text{ - 2}(x+6) \\ =x^2+6x-2x-12 \\ =x^2+4x-12 \end{gathered}[/tex]Therefore, 2(x- 2)(x + 6) gives
[tex]\begin{gathered} =2\text{ (}x^2+4x-12\text{)} \\ =2x^2+8x-24 \end{gathered}[/tex]
