$\begin{gathered} x+\frac{x}{4}+\frac{x}{3}\text{ =38} \\ \frac{12x+3x+4x}{12}=38 \\ \frac{19x}{12}=38 \end{gathered}$

cross multiply

$\begin{gathered} 19x\text{ = 456} \\ x\text{ = }\frac{456}{19} \\ x=24 \end{gathered}$
