We have the following:

The area of the rectangle is equal to the product of its sides, that is, the length times the width

[tex]A=l\cdot w[/tex]

In this case, l = 4 cm and w = 3 cm

replacing:

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=4\cdot3 \\ A=12 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Therefore the area is 12 square centimeters
