An isosceles triangle has two sides equal. Thus, this isosceles triangle would either have for a third side 4 or 8.

Using the triangle inequality, however, we can rule out 4. This is because;

Therefore, we have no triangle;

Therefore, the answer is;

[tex]8[/tex]
