1. Balance the C first

2C5H10 + ___O2 --> 10CO2 + ___H2O

2. Then balance the O

2C5H10 + 15O2 --> 10CO2 + 10H2O

3. Determine if both sides have equal molecules:

• Carbon = 10 both sides

• Hydrogen = 20 both sides

• Oxygen = 30 bothe sides
