If we have that point A translates to point D, we have to take into account the coordinates for each point. In this case, we have that:

A(-2, 2)

D(-7, 4)

We need to subtract the values of coordinates for D and A. Then:

As we can see, the rule for a translation from point A to point D is T(-5, 2).

We can see if we add -5 units to the x coordinate of A, we have that the new value for x = -7. Likewise, if we add 2 units to the y coordinate of A, we have that the new value for y = 4.
