The restoring force of the spring is given by,

Where k is the spring constant

Thus, from equation (i) and equation (ii),

[tex]\begin{gathered} mg=kx \\ \Rightarrow k=\frac{mg}{x} \end{gathered}[/tex]

On substituting the known values,

[tex]\begin{gathered} k=\frac{0.6\times9.8}{0.15} \\ =39.8\text{ N/m} \end{gathered}[/tex]

Thus the force constant of the spring is 39.8 N/m
