When comparing the variation between a variable and a result, the slope gives the relationship between the changes in both quantities.

[tex]\text{Slope = }\frac{Change\text{ in y}}{\text{Change in x}}\text{ = }\frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x}[/tex]
