so I have a few other questions along with this one...is that ok?

Solution
For this case we have two points given :
(-4,0) and (0,-2)
x1= - 4
y1 = 0
x2= 0
y2= -2
Then we can find the slope on this way:
[tex]m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}=\frac{-2-0}{0+4}=\frac{-2}{4}=-\frac{1}{2}[/tex]the general equation is given by:
[tex]y=mx+b[/tex]And then the can find the intercept on this way using the point x= -4 and y=0, replacing in the equation we got:
[tex]0=-\frac{1}{2}\cdot(-4)+b[/tex]b = -2
And the equation would be given by:
[tex]y=-\frac{1}{2}x-2[/tex]
