Solution:

Step 1: Define a proper fraction

A proper fraction is a fraction where the numerator is smaller than the denominator. e.g 2/3

Note; In a fraction the upper number is the numerator and the below number is denominator

Step 2: Define an improper fraction

An improper fraction is a fraction where the numerator is greater than the denominator

Step 3: Compare the fraction given

(a) 14/15.

It can be observed that 14 is smaller than 15. Hence, the fraction (14/15) is a proper fraction

(b)30/20

It can be observed that 30 is greater than 20. Hence, the fraction (30/20) is an improper fraction
