Proportionality in maths means when two variables increase by a definite constant.
for example, when x is proportional to y, it means if x increases by 2, y will also increase by 2.

the opposite of proportional is known as inversely proportional. this occurs in a situation where by if two variables are inversely proportional to each other, one increases by a certain factor while the other decreases by that same factor
for example, while x is inversely proportional to y, if x increases by 2, y decreases by 2
