Two angles are supplementary angles if the sun of their measures is 180. Find two supplementary angles such that the measure of the first angle is 26 less than three times the measure of the second

Respuesta :

Let, the two angles be x and y. then,

[tex]x+y=180\ldots(1)[/tex]

Now, the first angle is 26 less than three times the measure of the second then,

[tex]x=3y-26[/tex]

Then from equation (1)

[tex]\begin{gathered} x+y=180 \\ 3y-26+y=180 \\ 4y=180+26 \\ 4y=206 \\ y=51.5 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Substitute y in equation (1)then,

[tex]\begin{gathered} x+51.5=180 \\ x=180-51.5 \\ x=128.5 \end{gathered}[/tex]
