Statement Problem: A mixture of paint calls for 1/3 cups of red paint and 3/4 cups of yellow paint. How many cups of red paint would be needed for every one cup of yellow paint?

Solution:

Mixture of paint contains;

[tex]\frac{1}{3}\text{cups of red and }\frac{3}{4}\text{cups of yellow paint}[/tex]

For every one cup of yellow paint, there are;

[tex]\begin{gathered} (\frac{1}{3}\div\frac{3}{4})\text{cups of red paints} \\ =\frac{1}{3}\times\frac{4}{3} \\ =\frac{4}{9}\text{cups of red paints} \end{gathered}[/tex]
