A roof in the shape of a half-cylinder covers the a local soccer field so kids can play soccer year-round. The building has a length of 80 feet and a width of 50 feet. Calculate the lateral area of the roof. Use π = 3.14.The building is 50 feet wide and 80 feet long. The shorter wall is the diameter of the cylinder.A. 8,243 ft²B. 12,560 ft²C. 7,851 ft²D. 6,280 ft²

Given:

The building is 50 feet wide

The length is 80 feet

Find-:

The lateral area of the roof

Explanation-:

The lateral area, use the formula

[tex]=2\pi rh[/tex]

Where,

[tex]\begin{gathered} r\text{ = Radius} \\ \\ H=\text{ Height} \end{gathered}[/tex]

So lateral area is:

[tex]\begin{gathered} =2\pi rh \\ \\ =2\pi(\frac{50}{2})(80) \\ \\ =2\pi(25)(80) \end{gathered}[/tex]

Use the π = 3.14

So, the lateral area is:

[tex]\begin{gathered} =2\pi(25)(80) \\ \\ =2(3.14)(25)(80) \\ \\ =6.28\times2000 \\ \\ =12560 \end{gathered}[/tex]

So, the lateral area is 12560 ft²
