1. -z/5=9+1 (subtract from both sides)
2.  -z/5=8 (simplify 9-1 to 8)
3. -z=8x5 (Multiply both sides by 5)
4. -z=40  (simplify 8x5 to 40)
5. z=-40 (Multiply both side by -1)
And your answer is -40 which is D
