Thus, the required area of the composite figure is 69.81 square inches.

The area of the composite figure can be determined as,

[tex]\begin{gathered} A=(16in)^2+(8in)^2 \\ A=256in^2+64in^2 \\ A=320in^2 \end{gathered}[/tex]

Thus, the required area of the composite figure is 320 square inches.
