The equation to find the slope is

[tex]\text{slope}=\frac{y2-y1}{x2-x1}[/tex]

and then solve

[tex]\text{slope}=\frac{3-9}{7-(-2)}=\frac{-6}{7+2}=\frac{-6}{9}=-\frac{2}{3}[/tex]

Answer: - 2/3
