A kite has two pairs of consecutive equal sides. In our figure, these pairs are Side WX = Side WZ and Side XY = Side YZ.

Since WX has a length of 13 units, WZ must also has a length of 13 units. Therefore, x = 13.

Another property of a kite is its diagonals are perpendicular and cuts the shorter diagonal in half or equal parts. Therefore, we can say that XH = HZ.

If HZ = 5 and XH = 10y, then 5 = 10y. Therefore, y = 1/2.

To summarize, x = 13 and y = 1/2.
