Respuesta :

We have the expression

4(x^2 - 2x) - 2(x^2 - 3)

Firstly, open the parentheses

4 * x^2 - 4 * 2x - 2*x^2 -2 * (-3)

4x^2 - 8x - 2x^2 + 6

Secondly, collect the like terms

4x^2 - 2x^2 - 8x + 6

2x^2 - 8x + 6

2 is common in the expression, hence, 2 can be factorize out

2(x^2 - 4x + 3)

Solve the quadratic function in the parenthesis using factorization method

x^2 - 4x + 3

Factors of 3 are : 1 and 3, -1 and -3

Its only -1 and -3 that will give us -4 when add and give us +3 when multiply

x^2 - x - 3x + 3

x(x - 1) -3(x - 1)

(x - 1)(x - 3)

The new expression becomes

2[ (x -1)(x-3)]
