After you set the proportion you divide the result of that proportion by a 100 to find the percent of a number.

For example, if you want to calculate 15% of 200 you first set:

$(15\cdot200)=3000$

Then you divide by 100:

$\frac{3000}{100}=30$

therefore the 15% of 200 is 30.
